Privacy Policy

From Here ("we," "us," "our") lets you design and send a real, physically printed postcard to someone. This page explains what information we collect to do that, how we use it, and who we share it with.

Information we collect

When you place an order, we collect:

• Your information: your name and email address, and payment details (handled directly by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number).
• Recipient information: the name and mailing address of the person or people you're sending a postcard to.
• Return address: a mailing address you provide at checkout, used only if a postcard turns out to be undeliverable — it's returned there directly by USPS, never to us. See our Terms of Service for how undeliverable mail is handled.
• Your content: the photo and message you choose to include on the postcard.
• Usage information: the pages you visit on our site, how you arrived, and general information about your device and browser, collected through cookies and similar technologies. See "Analytics and cookies" below.
• Technical information: if something goes wrong while you use the site, an error report with your browser and device type, the page you were on, and your approximate location. See "Service providers" below.

We only collect what's needed to design, print, and mail your order.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Print and mail your postcard to the recipient you specify
• Route a postcard back to the return address you provide, if it can't be delivered
• Process your payment
• Send you an order confirmation by email, if you opt in to receive one
• Respond if you contact us with a question about your order
• Find and fix technical problems with the site and with orders
• Understand which of our ads and links lead to postcards being sent

We do not use your photo, message, or address information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.

Service providers we work with

To actually create and deliver your postcard, we share the minimum necessary information with a small number of service providers, each acting on our behalf and only for the purpose listed:

• Stripe — processes your payment. We never receive or store your card number.
• PostGrid — prints and mails the physical postcard, and so receives the recipient's address, your return address, and your postcard design.
• Cloudinary — stores the photo you upload so it can be printed.
• Airtable — stores order records (such as order status and the terms you agreed to at checkout) so we can track and support your order.
• Resend — sends the optional order-confirmation email, if you opt in.
• Google Analytics — measures how visitors use our site (see "Analytics and cookies" below).
• Sentry — helps us find and fix errors. When something goes wrong on the site, it receives an error report and, for that visit only, a short recording of what happened on the page. In the recording, all text and form fields are masked, so it does not include your name, address, message or card details; a photo you have uploaded may be visible. Visits without an error are not recorded.

These providers may process and store data on servers located in the United States or other countries where they operate. We work with reputable providers, but we encourage you to review their own privacy policies if you have questions about their specific data handling practices.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use From Here, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. It sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, the pages you view, and information about your device and browser. We use this only to improve the site, and we do not use it to identify you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Our advertising

We may advertise on other platforms, such as Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We do not install those companies' advertising or tracking tools on our site, and we do not send them any information about you, your visit or your order.

To know which ads work, the link in an ad includes a campaign tag. When you arrive with one, our site remembers the tag in your browser for up to 30 days (or, if you arrive from another website, that site's name only), and attaches it to your order record with our payment processor so we can see which campaign led to it. It is not shared with the ad platforms. The ad platforms handle what they know about you from their own services under their own privacy policies, and you can control that in your Google Ad Settings and Meta Ad Preferences. You can clear the stored tag at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Data retention

We retain order information for as long as needed to fulfill your order, provide customer support, and meet our own legal and accounting obligations. You can request that we delete your information at any time — see "Your rights" below.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at the email address below. We'll respond as quickly as we're able to.

Children's privacy

From Here is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use From Here after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
